This is
a recipe I make every year during the 4th of July holiday. It is always a hit
and serves many "constantly" hungry boys! This recipe was given to me
by a dear friend in 1986 when we first moved to Michigan
from California .
I am getting hungry just thinking about them!
Ingredients
1 ½ cups sugar
½ cup margarine, softened
2 eggs
1 cup sour cream
3 large ripe bananas
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
Directions
1. Mix sugar & margarine
until light & fluffy.
2. Add eggs, 1 at a time,
beating well after each addition. Stir in sour cream until well
blended. Add bananas & vanilla. Mix
well.
3. Sift together flour, soda
& salt. Add dry ingredients to creamed mixture & stir to
combine.
4. Spread into greased &
floured 15 x 10” jelly roll pan.
Bake 375° Fahrenheit for
20-25 minutes or until center springs back when touched. Cool.
FROSTING
Original:
¼ cup margarine
2 cups confectioners’ sugar
3 Tablespoons sour cream
Beat until creamy. Let set.
Frost cooled cake.
I make the frosting this
way:
¼ cup butter
8 oz. cream cheese
2 cups confectioners sugar
(might need a little more if frosting is too soft)
1 teaspoon vanilla paste
