Sloppy Joe French Bread Pizza

Submitted by" June Shockley
I found this online and think most kids would love it.  It also looks like a great
main dish for game night or the super bowl
.
Note:  I would do a couple of things.
~Perhaps brush the bread halves with some melted garlic butter and lightly toast under broiler before adding the toppings.  Add the topping and follow the rest of the instructions.
~And/Or I think I would slightly  hollow out the bread to make a bit of a pocket for the meat and cheese topping.

Sloppy Joe French Bread Pizza

Serves: 4-6 servings

Ingredients

1 loaf French Bread, cut in half lengthwise
2 bell peppers (any color)
½ medium onion, diced
1 pound Ground Chuck or Sirloin Beef
1 15-ounce can Manwich Bold Sauce
2-3 cups shredded Cheddar and Jack Cheeses (combined)  You could use some jalapeno Cheddar-jack cheese for some zip

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Line a sheet pan with foil and place bread halves side by side, cut side up.
In a large saute pan or pot, heat about a tablespoon of olive oil. Add onion and cook for about 2 minutes, then add the bell peppers and cook for about 3 minutes, until veggies are beginning to soften. Crumble in ground beef, seasoning with a little salt and pepper. Cook until beef is not longer pink. Drain. Stir in Manwich sauce and heat through.
Spread meat mixture evenly on the french bread halves. Top with desired amount of cheese.
Bake for about 10 minutes, or until cheese is nice and melted.
Cool for a few minutes before slices into 2 inch pieces.
